Report Scope

Visual reports typically address developed properties in escrow.  The site is thoroughly observed. Research of pertinent private and public records is performed. A written report is prepared.  Subsurface exploration is not normally performed but may be recommended. Visual reports are not available for vacant land nor are they suitable for submission to the building department to obtain a permit.

Geology and/or Soil reports typically address proposed improvements. Common types of proposed improvements are dwellings, additions to dwellings, retaining walls, pools, decks, and tennis courts. Research of pertinent private and public records is performed in addition to surface and subsurface exploration. Samples of encountered earth materials are obtained and laboratory testing of samples is performed.  A written report is prepared that contains appropriate recommendations for construction with respect to geotechnical conditions.

Damage Evaluation reports evaluate relationships between geotechnical conditions and damage to improvements. Research of pertinent private and public records is performed in addition to surface exploration. Subsurface exploration may also be performed. Samples of encountered earth materials are obtained and laboratory testing of samples is performed.  A written report is prepared that contains an evaluation of the cause of damage with respect to geotechnical conditions and appropriate recommendations for repair.
